Crushing On Lauren Conrad
Reality TV stars have the tendency to come and go. Very
few reality stars have staying power that last after the series ends. There are
few exceptions to the rule and this week we are crushing on Lauren Conrad.
Lauren Conrad as you know got her start as herself in the realty series “The OC”
and later spin off show “The Hills” Lauren used her celebrity to write several
books, start a clothing line and she also has a really cool blog that I stumbled upon and later
found myself lost in its web pages. If you haven’t already become familiar with
her site and blog you really should. Laure has divided the site into a few
different categories. Here are few of my favorites.
Wear- Here Lauren features some amazing photos of
herself wearing many of the items for her LC Lauren Conrad fashion line. Lauren also gives some tips and tricks on how
to wear some of the season’s hottest trends.
Primp- You will find loads of advice on make-up
application, acne fighting foods and unique beauty techniques like ice cube
facials.

Decorate- Throwing a dinner party or having the girls
over for a night of catching up? You are sure to find some really cool home decor
ideas. Lauren has up loaded lots of video of herself showing the readers DIY
home decorating ideas great for us gals that need to do things on a budget.
Overall Lauren’s blog has a vintage charm to it with a
flare of the LA Hollywood Hills glam. You can’t help but fall in love with the
overall themes and design and the sweet girl next door vibe will either give
you a tooth-ache or if you are like me an amazing sense of nostalgia. I left
the site ready to prepare my home for the holidays, organize a closet, and pin
my hair up in an ultra fem, classic Lauren style bun. Check
it out for yourself and let us know what you think.

Blogger Spotlight "Broke & Chic"

This past
week we caught up with Amanda Raye, Editor-In- Chief for the fashion blog Broke and Chic. Amanda, a girl after our own
heart who understands well that looking good and feeling good can and should be
done on a budget. Much like AlyssaLondon.com keeping fashion affordable should
be at the top of everyone’s list especially in an economy like this. We asked
Amanda a few questions on how she started her entertaining, and educational
blog and what we the everyday girl can do to be more fab and more fiscally fit.
1. What sets you and your
blog apart from other fashion bloggers?
Broke &
Chic is all about teaching people how to live a luxurious life on a budget.
It's about the readers, not me, which I think keep things interesting.
2. How did you get
started blogging?
Moving to
New York City left me completely broke and stuck in an apartment roughly the
size of a box. So, there I was, dying to be a part of one of the most
fashionable cities on earth, with a very skinny wallet.
I knew a
tight budget shouldn't keep me from exploring the latest trends and having fun,
but turning to magazines for advice on what to do wasn't cutting it. Despite
what most "Save Vs. Splurge" sections say, the average person can't
afford a $4,000 Prada bag, let alone a $150 lookalike.
So that's
how Broke & Chic began; to bring together everything I've learned and teach
people how to "have it all" on a budget!
3. How would you
describe your own personal approach to fashion?
If I like
it, I wear it. I never stick to a specific style, but I will always have a soft
spot for vintage!
4. What is your must
have 2012 Fall fashion piece/trend?
Studded
collars. I just love the classy-meets-edgy look!
5. What advice would
you give someone who wanted to start a fashion blog?
Be original
and don't give up. It can be very discouraging in the beginning, since no one
will even know you exist. Just keep posting, and if you have great content,
readers will eventually come.
6. What advice would
you give to someone who just lost weight and needs a whole new fashion wardrobe
but funds are limited?
First, spend
some time looking at various magazines to get inspiration. Then, head on over
to a buy/sell/trade store to re-create the looks you admire. While you're at
it, you could even sell some of the clothes you no longer wear. That way you're
making money (or breaking even) instead of just spending it.
Thanks Amanda lets chat again soon
XOXO

What the heck is a shellac Manicure?

Tired of
nails that chip, peel and crack after just a few days? Well a Shellac Manicure
may be your answer. So, what the heck is
shellac? Well we are about to break it down for you and tell you exactly what
Shellac is and why everyone is buzzing about it and where you can get it and
how much it’s going to cost you.
What is Shellac?
Shellac is a
UV patent pending technology that allows you to wear your manicure nail enamel
for two weeks with no chipping, cracking or peeling produced by a company
called CND.
Why is everyone so Shellac crazy?
Well if you
have ever done your own nails and or had a single manicure in your life you
know the frustrations that come along with nail care. Shine fades quickly, paint color starts to
chip or peel and overall your nails go from fab to drab all too quickly.
Shellac products pretty much eliminate these issues, allowing you to rock your
manicure for about 2 weeks straight.
Where can I get Shellac?
You cannot
buy Shellac products the service is only available and rendered at salons by
beauty professionals. You will not be able to remove shellac at home so you
must be committed to going to a professional nail salon for the service and the
cost can be up to 50% more, but keep in mind your polish will last longer so
that can help to off-set the additional cost.
What are the downsides to Shellac?
Well like
mentioned before shellac manicures must be rendered in a professional setting
and the service does cost more, Shellac should not damage your natural nail as
long as it is applied and removed as instructed. The only other downside that I
see in Shellac is the limited colors that they have, however they just came out
with layering where you can add colors together to create more color combinations.
My overall
thoughts about Shellac is to at least try it once and see what you think if
applied correctly and removed correctly you really don’t have much to lose.
