Storytelling Across Media
Alyssa’s work centers on storytelling across formats—from journalism and on-camera hosting to long-form written work.
She began producing content through Culture Story in 2018, creating original video series focused on Indigenous communities, identity, and place. This work led to producing and hosting segments for NBC News and MSNBC.
She hosted the MSNBC special The Culture Is: Indigenous Women, exploring the roles and experiences of Indigenous women today. She served as a contributor for NBC News and continues to develop work across film and media.
Writing
Alyssa is the author of Journey of the Freckled Indian: A Tlingit Culture Story, a children’s book exploring identity and belonging.
She is currently working on additional books with Bloomsbury Publishing Children’s Books and a forthcoming nonfiction title with HarperCollins, focused on Indigenous identity and contemporary culture.
Her writing expands on the same themes present in her media work—cultural identity, representation, and what it means to belong.
On-Camera & Film
Alyssa is an on-camera host and actress. Working in film and television, she loves bringing stories to life through performance and visual storytelling.
Her work spans both journalistic and narrative formats, bringing clarity and depth to the stories she helps tell.
She was the host of MSNBC’s The Culture Is: Indigenous Women, and the lead actress in the independent film For Sky, With Love.

Visual Art
In addition to media and writing, Alyssa creates visual artwork across textiles, wood, drawing and painting.
Her work draws from Northwest formline design and storytelling traditions, with an application to contemporary forms. In this work, she expands her storytelling beyond digital narratives into physical form.
Culture Story is a storytelling platform founded by Alyssa to amplify Indigenous voices across media and education.
Through original content, partnerships, and storytelling initiatives, the work centers Indigenous perspectives and experiences in ways that are both contemporary and rooted.

Alyssa creative work informs her entrepreneurial endeavors reflecting an ongoing interest in how stories can take shape across mediums—from media to physical objects to immersive experiences.
